I’m delighted to be hosting the fine four-piece Laura Cortese & the Dance Cards for a concert on Saturday 30th September. I’ve been trying to book these gals for a while but the dates have never worked out until now. They are a spectacular and versatile live band combining elements of folk, rock & roll, Cajun, bluegrass and pop, with phenomenal instrumental virtuosity and catchy grooves.
This dynamic and multi-talented quartet is led by California singer, songwriter and fiddle player Laura Cortese, ably backed by cellist Valerie Thompson and fiddler Jenna Moynihan. They’ll be joined by a guest double bassist for their UK tour. With sophisticated string arrangements and rich vocal harmonies complementing Cortese’s powerful voice, the Dance Cards are a seriously impressive live act.
Doors 7:30pm, concert from 8pm. There will be a licensed bar. Advance tickets £10. On sale in Meltham at the Library and Café 33. Tickets are also available online (note 10% booking fee):
