Front Country in Marsden this October

I’m delighted to welcome back our friends Front Country, a highly entertaining modern bluegrass/roots/pop quintet from California. Now based in Nashville, they performed for us at Sheffield last year and blew everyone away! This year they’ll be rocking Marsden Mechanics on Friday 13th October.

Fronted by phenomenal singer and songwriter Melody Walker, the band is packed with talented musicians, including  Jacob Groopman (guitar/resonator guitar/vocals), Adam “Roscoe” Roszkiewicz (mandolin/vocals), Leif Karlstrom (fiddle) and Jeremy Darrow (double bass). Front Country are a little bit different. Using traditional bluegrass/folk instrumentation in their highly original interpretations of songs, they dub their music “roots pop” and it ranges brilliantly across pop, rock, folk, blues and bluegrass, from superb originals to  quirky and creative renditions of covers and traditional songs.

They recently released their second album Other Love Songs and it’s making waves on the acoustic scene on both sides of the Atlantic. Frontwoman Melody Walker was awarded the Momentum Award (Vocalist) at the 2016 IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) Awards, and the band is about to head to China and Tibet next week on a special cultural exchange. Front Country is going places, and we’re thrilled to have the band back in Yorkshire this autumn. We’ll also welcome excellent local bluegrass band Porch Lizards to open the show, so this will be a veritable feast of live music!

Advance tickets £12.50 (note 10% booking fee online).
Paper tickets will also be available at Marsden Library inside the Mechanics building.
