True North Music wins Outstanding Promoter Award!

I’m very pleased to have won the Outstanding Promoter Award at the Yorkshire Gig Guide Grassroots Awards this weekend. It is very much appreciated recognition for all the hard work that goes into making successful concerts happen, especially at a grassroots level. My one-woman music venture has no funding and no other staff, but I really appreciate the many people whose help and support has enabled me to put on some outstanding and well-attended gigs in the last two and a half years. Especially the ever-reliable and helpful Peter Earle (and Brett in Sheffield) on sound, all the staff at The Greystones, Sheffield, and staff and volunteers at the lovely community venues I use – Hepworth Village Hall, Marsden Mechanics and most especially everyone at The Carlile Institute in Meltham, who have been so supportive. Thanks to the folks at Cafe 33, the Library and The Flower Box for selling Meltham tickets, Holme Valley Review for featuring several gigs in the paper, all the wonderful bands who have performed for us and the numerous friends and supporters who have lent me gear, put out chairs, helped on the door, spread the word about events and above all, thanks to all those who have bought tickets – without you there would be no gigs. Thank you for helping me to make special evenings of live music happen.
