We’re delighted to be welcoming Laura Cortese and the Dance Cards to Meltham, Huddersfield on Saturday 30th September for another sold-out concert at The Carlile Institute. This dynamic quartet combines the best parts of folk, rock & roll, Cajun, bluegrass and pop and is led by California singer and fiddle player Laura Cortese. With sophisticated string arrangements, phenomenal instrumental virtuosity and rich vocal harmonies complementing Cortese’s powerful voice, the Dance Cards are a seriously impressive live act. We’re also looking forward to welcoming talented local youngsters Don’t Feed the Peacocks who will open up the evening.
For those lucky enough to have tickets, please note that doors are at 7:30pm, showtime 8pm prompt. The Carlile Institute is a beautiful Victorian building with an attractive 1st-floor concert room. Our friends in the community association will run a licensed bar at the event, which now features excellent local real ale from Russ at Empire Brewery! We’ve sold out every single one of our concerts at The Carlile Institute since our first event there in October 2016. Thanks to the trustees there, the local community in Meltham and everyone else who comes out to support these gigs. Keep music live!
