Coming up in a couple of weeks, the superb April Verch Band plays The Greystones in Sheffield on Sunday 8th November. We’re really happy to be hosting April & her trio after seeing their fantastic show last year. From the Ottawa Valley region of Canada, April was brought up in a household steeped in traditional music and has been playing the fiddle from a very early age. She’s won many fiddle contests and has been honing her craft over the last two decades, touring the world and recording ten albums to date.

As well as being a superlative fiddle player, April is an amazing step dancer too, and puts on a highly impressive show with her band. Cody Walters, (from Kansas) on upright bass and clawhammer banjo, and Lucas Chohany (from Baltimore) on guitar and mandolin represent the USA portion of the trio and both are accomplished musicians. With a range of original and traditional material, tight harmony singing and influences drawn from bluegrass as well as many folk fiddle traditions, the AVB is a class act.
