I’m delighted to have put together this very special duo tour featuring two of the finest proponents of American roots music, Nashville based banjo and guitar wizard Ron Block (of Alison Krauss & Union Station) and superlative multi-instrumentalist and singer Tony Furtado from Portland, Oregon. I’m fortunate to have known both these guys for a number of years and I’ve previously hosted (sold out!) gigs for each of them.
One of the biggest names on the American bluegrass scene, Ron has 14 Grammy Awards to his name and is well known as a long time member of bluegrass supergroup Alison Krauss & Union Station. He is also a superb guitarist and talented songwriter, with influences ranging from blues to folk. Ron has performed and recorded with countless renowned musicians including Dolly Parton, Sierra Hull, Damien O’Kane and Kate Rusby. Tony Furtado is a stunning live performer who’s been hailed as a genius on banjo and slide guitar. Also a soulful singer and talented songwriter, Tony has toured worldwide since the 1990s, playing his captivating brand of Americana, and has also worked with acoustic luminaries including Tim O’Brien and Dirk Powell. Ron and Tony are old friends, and this special duo collaboration is guaranteed to be a stellar presentation of American roots music!
