Front Country come to Sheffield!

The mighty California five-piece Front Country hit Sheffield for the first time at the end of the month, with a concert at The Greystones. They return to the UK for a run of festivals and a few handpicked smaller gigs, after a triumphant debut last year. Front Country hail from the San Francisco Bay Area and they’ve been garnering masses of critical acclaim for their fresh take on bluegrass since they got together just five years ago. In their rapid ascent to becoming one of the hottest bands on the American roots scene, they’ve won the prestigious band contests at both RockyGrass and Telluride festivals and mandolinist Adam Roszkiewicz has been nominated for a Grammy. In the UK they’ve been featured by BBC Radio Two’s Bob Harris and they wowed audiences here on their autumn 2015 tour, with the majority of shows sold out.

With a powerhouse sound driven by the rock solid instrumentation of  Jacob Groopman (guitar),  Leif Karlstrom (fiddle), Jeremy Darrow (double bass) and the aforementioned Adam Roszkiewicz (mandolin), Front Country’s not-so-secret weapon is frontwoman Melody Walker. With a massive bluesy voice and some excellent original songs, she undeniably contributes an enormous amount to the band’s appeal. But the band is an impressive unit thanks to all these talented individuals, with a modern sound that draws on a myriad of rock, pop, blues and folk influences to deliver their own special brand of bluegrass. They’ve just smashed their Kickstarter target fundraising for their second album release, a follow-up to the acclaimed Sake of the Sound, and have been delighting audiences at several festivals in France and Switzerland in recent weeks.

Join us on Sunday 28th August (Bank Holiday weekend) for what’s sure to be a really special night of music. Tickets are out now at this link.
