The best Americana, bluegrass & roots live in 2016

Happy New Year, music lovers! I hope you’ve all had a relaxing and fun festive period. I’ve had a lovely time over Christmas and New Year, including a couple of great music sessions with family and friends. Now that January’s here, it’s time to really get stuck into planning and promoting True North Music’s concert programme for 2016. We have lots of fabulous artists and bands already booked for this year, including some of the brightest talents in acoustic roots from both the USA and the UK. As you all know, live music makes life better, and we need good stuff to look forward to during these dark winter days. Check out the wonderful bands below and save the dates in your new diaries!

First up, the wonderful Jaywalkers from the UK. I’ve been a fan of this Cheshire-based trio for many years, and their music just keeps getting better and better. Former BBC Young Folk Awards finalists, superb musicians and all-round class act, the Jaywalkers have honed their original blend of folk, bluegrass, jazz and blues over many years of gigging and three albums to date. Join us at The LBT in Huddersfield on Saturday 27th Februaryfull details & ticket links here.

Then in April we’re pleased as punch to be hosting The Railsplitters from Colorado, USA! This fabulous bluegrass five-piece toured the UK in 2015 to rave reviews and features top class pickers on banjo, fiddle, mandolin, guitar and double bass. Plus gorgeous singing and some classy harmonies. The Railsplitters will be performing at Marsden Mechanics on Friday 8th April – full details & ticket link here.

This summer we return to The Greystones in Sheffield on Saturday 25th June, for an evening with the fine folks from The Corn Potato String Band. This trio hails from Michigan and will be entertaining us with their inimitable mix of old time fiddle tunes, ballads, hoedowns and country gospel! An irresistible mix of fun time music and top quality musicianship, with driving fiddle & banjo, guitar and harmonies. Ticket link coming soon for this one…

In the second half of the year we have more great concerts lined up, including Seattle super duo Cahalen Morrison & Eli West (9th September in Sheffield) and one of the UK’s finest Americana/folk groups, Hatful of Rain (1st October in Sheffield). Further details to follow on those and more….keep up to date with all our concerts by signing up to our emailing list, following us on Twitter and Facebook and subscribing to the blog – just check out the links on the right.

Happy New Year – we hope to see you at one of the shows this year!
