Award winning young bluegrass band from Boston, USA
Now booking for March 2019
Mile Twelve is an exceptionally talented young quintet, fast gaining recognition for outstanding performances in bluegrass and folk circles in the USA. Walking the line beautifully between original and traditional bluegrass, the band has been on a swift rise since forming in 2014. With four members from the Eastern USA, plus one New Zealander, Mile Twelve has its roots in Boston, where three members studied at the fabled Berklee College of Music. This engaging young five-piece delivers breathtaking live performances which feature outstanding musicianship and vocal harmonies (all five members sing). Their entertaining live material includes some creative covers as well as their own acclaimed bluegrass and folk originals and a sprinkling of traditional songs. Mile Twelve has performed extensively throughout the USA, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand and Australia, and won the 2017 Momentum Award at the IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) Awards.
“Five accomplished bluegrass musicians who write, sing, and play like the wind – serious players who have serious fun. Mile Twelve is a group to watch in the coming decade!” – Tim O’Brien
Mile Twelve is packed with musical experience and award winning talent. Evan Murphy (guitar/vocals), Bronwyn Keith‐Hynes (fiddle/vocals), Catherine “BB” Bowness (banjo/vocals), Nate Sabat (double bass/vocals) and David Benedict (mandolin/vocals) all have a wealth of musical awards and touring and performing experience under their belts despite their youth, and True North Music is delighted to be bringing the band to the UK for the first time! Together, the members of Mile Twelve have hit upon a winningly entertaining formula, and are having a fine time performing and creating outstanding music together. In October 2017 they released their debut full-length album “Onwards”, featuring almost all originals, and drawing on a range of diverse influences.
