As we approach a new year we want to thank all the promoters, venue managers, festival organisers, volunteers, amazing musicians and ticket buyers who have helped make this a successful year for True North Music – and for keeping grassroots live music thriving across the country! We’ve enjoyed booking 2019 tours for all the superlative artists named below – and with eleven tours happening this year, it was our busiest year yet! We also hosted our own Yorkshire concerts for a great many of our client artists – as well as for a few more lovely bands.
It’s really impossible to name favourite gigs, as every single concert we have put on has been a fantastic, life-affirming experience (even though it’s hard work!). It’s magical to make good things happen and to receive heartfelt thanks from audience members as they leave the hall. Similarly, we get loads of fulsome praise for our artists from promoters who have hosted them elsewhere – check out some of this feedback here.
Maria was also lucky enough to be invited to both the USA and Canada this year – to Nashville in March to participate in the IBMA’s Leadership Bluegrass Class of 2019, and to Canada in September for Music PEI’s showcase event in Prince Edward Island (we also managed to fit in a visit to IBMA’s World of Bluegrass event in North Carolina on the way to Canada!). And we finally got to visit La Roche Bluegrass festival in France this year, where several of our client bands were performing, and also made our first visit to Omagh Bluegrass Festival in Northern Ireland, who we’ve been working with this year – they booked three of our client artists for their festival too! All in all it’s been a very exciting year for experiencing top flight music at home and away, making new connections and new music friends across the country and the world.
Of course we are already working on lots of exciting plans for 2020 – we’re already booking dates for a dozen tours with maybe a couple more still in the works! Check out our upcoming tours page for full details – and don’t forget we’re hosting our first one day Americana & Bluegrass Day mini fest in 2020 too! Hope to see you down the road somewhere – keep on supporting live music! It’s one of the things that makes life worth living.
