I’m delighted to announce that I’m working with top notch folk/roots duo Newberry & Verch to book their debut UK tour, coming up in spring 2018. Joe Newberry & April Verch are both master musicians and this American/Canadian collaboration is fuelled by a shared passion for traditional music, blending folk, bluegrass and old time Americana. I’ve had the pleasure of working with both April Verch and Joe Newberry before, hosting concerts featuring each of them and booking Joe’s 2017 tour with Mike Compton. I’m really looking forward to seeing the new duo in action!
Joe Newberry is a top notch banjoist, guitarist, singer and songwriter. He was a guest star on 2016’s popular Transatlantic Sessions live tour and he performs with several other bands and musicians including mandolin legend Mike Compton. Joe regularly teaches guitar, singing and clawhammer banjo across the USA and Europe, and is a charismatic performer who charms audiences wherever he goes.
April Verch is a world class Canadian fiddle player, step dancer and singer. Best known in the UK for her performances with her own trio, the April Verch Band, April has countless awards, ten albums and sixteen years of touring under her belt. She started step dancing at age three and playing the fiddle at age six!
These two hugely talented musicians have now come together for this very special duo project. They’re having enormous fun performing together live and they’ve also recently released their first duo album, Going Home. Take a look at our Newberry & Verch tour booking page for more information, and keep your eyes peeled for 2018 UK tour dates, to be announced later in the year.
“The two clearly had a great time recording together and their enthusiasm for the material springs from the speakers, you just can’t help but be swept along on the tide..” – Folk Radio UK
