Here at True North Towers, we’ve been busy making plans and booking some fabulous bands for our 2016 concert programme. I’m really delighted to announce that we’ll be hosting up and coming Brighton based folk/Americana quartet Hatful of Rain at The Greystones in Sheffield on 1st October 2016. This super talented foursome features great instrumental picking on fiddle, mandolin, guitar, double bass, dobro and clawhammer banjo, as well as some lovely harmony singing and the glorious lead vocals of Chloë Overton.
Hatful of Rain’s blend of acoustic roots music draws on elements of folk, bluegrass and old time and they impress with their high quality original songwriting, as well as their fresh interpretations of a sprinkling of classic traditional songs and folky covers. They’ve been busy building their reputation and honing their sound over the last few years, with two studio albums and numerous live gigs and festivals under their belts. Hatful of Rain have enjoyed plaudits from the likes of Bob Harris, who’s featured them on his BBC Radio 2 show, and respected online magazine Spiral Earth, who shortlisted them in their 2014 awards line-up.
