The Slocan Ramblers

Exciting, entertaining bluegrass from Canada

Touring Oct/Nov 2018 – only a few dates remaining

SlocanRamblers lo res 2 credit Jen SquiresI’m delighted to welcome multi-talented Canadian bluegrass band The Slocan Ramblers to True North Music. Hailing from Toronto, this dynamic young band combines impressive bluegrass and old-time musicianship with a fresh approach and modern appeal. Following a warmly received first UK & Ireland tour in autumn 2017, where they played to numerous full houses, the band is looking forward to returning to Europe in late 2018 to build on this success. The Slocan Ramblers are rooted in the tradition, yet fearlessly creative, and possess a bold, dynamic sound. In the last few years the four-piece has become a leading light of Canada’s roots music scene, building on their reputation for energetic live shows, impeccable musicianship and an uncanny ability to convert anyone within earshot into a lifelong fan.

One of the hottest young bluegrass bands I’ve heard in ages.” – Penguin Eggs magazine

The quartet has steadily added to their list of awards and plaudits on home ground, including the Emerging Artist Award (Edmonton Folk Fest 2015) and Traditional Album of the Year Nominee (Canadian Folk Music Awards (2016). They have been making inroads into the USA scene for quite some time, and now the UK is starting to catch on! The Slocan Ramblers were recently featured in FRoots magazine, and impressed audiences across the country on their 2017 tour.

On their latest album, Coffee Creek (2015) the foursome blends lightning fast, devilishly intricate instrumentals with evocative vocals, on songs and tunes ranging from fine originals to rowdy old-time numbers.  Coffee Creek was produced by the band’s friend and mentor, acclaimed Canadian musician and songwriter Chris Coole. Their third album, Queen City Jubilee, will be released in June 2018, and is set to build on the solid foundations of their first two albums. We look forward to The Slocan Ramblers’ return to the UK, and to working with them on this October/November tour.
