These are exciting times at True North Towers, and I’m delighted to announce that I’ve recently agreed to book UK tours for two super-talented new clients from the USA – the Danny Barnes Trio (October/November 2018) and The Honey Dewdrops (Jan/Feb 2019).
Danny Barnes is a legend on the American roots scene, a massively influential banjo player and multi-instrumentalist from Texas. In 2015 Danny was awarded the Steve Martin Prize for Excellence in Banjo and Bluegrass in recognition of his history as one of the genre’s most distinctive and innovative performers. He’ll be accompanied by two more stellar talents, acoustic guitar ace Grant Gordy and phenomenal mandolinist Joe K Walsh. We hosted Grant and Joe a couple of years ago with their Gordy, Somers, Walsh trio and can’t wait to see them again, alongside the inimitable Danny Barnes.
The Honey Dewdrops first came on to my radar thanks to Front Country’s cover of their fantastic song One Kind Word. This outstanding Baltimore based husband & wife Americana/ roots duo has been performing and touring non-stop for 10 years but this will be their first visit to the UK. Their gorgeous vocal harmonies, superb songwriting and beautiful acoustic arrangements on guitars, mandolin and clawhammer banjo are sure to delight UK audiences.
